critiques=This series is a lot of fun if you're a fan of visual novels or puzzle games! Dialogue-wise, it's very campy. There are lots of bad jokes and a huge lack of tone throughout both games (especially 999). However, while it's hilarious to make fun of that, the games are still thoroughly enjoyable. The strength of this series relies not on the dialogue, but on the plot itself, which is quite creative. I can't go into further detail on that front-- you'll have to figure out what's going on with Junpei and Sigma's wack-ass brains for yourself. As for the puzzles, the ones in 999 are relatively easy (sometimes a little challenging), whereas the puzzles in VLR are generally much harder. Regardless of difficulty level, each and every puzzle is satisfying to solve. I would definitely recommend getting this series now while it's on sale!
